Crayons to Classrooms is a charitable program that helps teachers give children living in poverty what they need to get the most out of their education. We volunteered on two separate occasions, the first day we made journals out of dot matrix paper and cut decorations from construction paper for classrooms that would otherwise have none. On the second day volunteers cleaned donated supplies like three-ring binders and made more journals. One teacher was volunteering with us and gave us a real understanding of what it’s like to work in a school with more than an 80% of it’s children living in poverty. We are so glad we were able to contribute to a cause helping schools in our own backyard.
